Melissa Payne Baker spends her days chasing her artistic dreams as well as her toddler son, both keeping her creativity in full bloom. This Southern artist learned from generations of artists in her family, soaking in a deep respect for all things artistic, from photography, metal fabrication, gardening to painting.
With a degree in Marketing from the University of Mississippi and over a decade working in interior design, her passions mesh together well. Melissa has perfected her unique color, medium and texture techniques to create her individual style shown in her work. Her love for interiors leads her through each painting, creating fine art abstracts. Always creating, her new collections can be found in fine art galleries and fine interior boutiques across the Southeast. Her artwork has also been seen in many national publications.
Melissa has been creating her abstract paintings on canvas for over a decade and recently released a line of hand painted glassware. Her glassware can be found in fine boutiques, the Neiman Marcus Pop-Up Shop in Atlanta October – November and at Spotlight on Art in Atlanta in February. She has collaborated with Ballard Designs and Pottery Barn on exclusive giclee canvases and Dear Keaton with an exclusive line of original acrylics on paper in late 2016, Cindy Ensor Jewelry designs will debut an exclusive line of hand painted jewelry by Melissa.
If not in her studio creating or decorating for a client, you will see her around Atlanta socializing with clients and friends, while learning what is next in the design and art world. She loves talking with clients and other artisians, studying and learning to perfect her next project. She lives in Atlanta with her husband Rick, their son Payne and their cat Gesso.
Like many true artists, Melissa views her work, from design to painting, as an extension of herself. The heart and soul of her work is derived from everyday life and experiences. Her work usually has a story behind it, but all convey emotions or feelings that touch the viewer.
