How do I participate in the 36th Annual ArtBLINK Gala?

The 36th annual and first-ever virtual ArtBLINK Gala will premiere on the O’Neal Cancer Center’s YouTube channel on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021. The pre-show starts at 6:30 p.m. CST on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, so be sure to visit the event watch page on YouTube before the show begins at 6:45 p.m. CST.

Don't miss out: Bookmark the YouTube Premiere watch page in your web browser now for easy access later, or if you haven't already, subscribe to our YouTube channel at youtube.com/ONealCancerCenter. Once you're subscribed, click the bell on our channel page to receive a notification when the event premiere begins.

Although you can already visit the watch page on YouTube, you will be unable to play the video on the watch page until the pre-show starts at 6:30 p.m. CST, so we recommend bookmarking the page or turning on channel notifications prior to the event.

Be sure to subscribe and click the bell on the O’Neal Cancer Center page to receive a notification when the show begins.

If you want to watch this year’s program but cannot join on the night of the event, the full video of the event program will be available to view on the Cancer Center’s YouTube channel after the show concludes.

The gala will also feature an online auction during which those who have registered can purchase or bid on artwork at qtego.net/qlink/occc. The auction will open on the evening of the event and will remain open through Sunday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m., but those who wish to buy or place a bid on items through the Qtego auction site must register before doing so. Participants can register by phone, or they can register online by visiting qtego.net/qlink/occc. Tickets are not required to register for the auction.

To register for the auction by phone, text ARTBLINK to 72727. After sending this text, you will receive a text response with a link. Follow the link, be sure to scroll down on the pop-up box to enter all the required information, and then click “REGISTER.”

After clicking “REGISTER,” you will receive a text message with your PIN to complete your registration. Enter the four-digit PIN to sign into the Qtego auction site. Upon signing in, you can view auction items and gallery/Instabuy items, as well as make a donation.

Once you are registered, follow the link that you received and then click on “AUCTION ITEMS.” Here, you can select a piece of art and place a bid on the Qtego auction site.

I’ve seen information about buying a ticket to ArtBLINK. Do I have to buy a ticket in order to watch the show?

No, you do not have to purchase a ticket in order to watch the virtual ArtBLINK video program or to register for the online auction. To register for the auction, either text ARTBLINK to 72727 or visit qtego.net/qlink/occc. The video program will premiere on the O'Neal Cancer Center's Youtube channel on Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m., so we recommend bookmarking the Qtego auction site and the Cancer Center's Youtube channel before the event begins.

If tickets are not required to watch virtual ArtBLINK, why should I purchase one?

While tickets are not required to participate in ArtBLINK, they are encouraged! By purchasing a ticket, you will receive a four-course dinner for two with wine and champagne from Iz Catering. View the dinner menu and pickup instructions here.

Reserving a dinner is just one way to make your virtual ArtBLINK viewing experience even more special. Purchase your dinner ticket here. After you purchase a ticket, you should receive a ticket confirmation email with a link to follow where you can enter your dinner selections. If you do not receive a link in your confirmation email, please email Danya Segrest at danya40@uab.edu for assistance.

In addition to receiving a dinner for two, ticket buyers will also be making a contribution to top-priority projects in cancer research and care through the O’Neal Cancer Center’s Fund for Excellence.

When and where can I pick up the dinner that I’ve purchased?

Dinner pickup will be held at the Independence Plaza Parking Deck from 4-6 p.m. on the night of ArtBLINK, Friday, Feb. 5:

Independence Plaza Parking Deck
1 Independence Drive
Homewood, AL 35209

You must reserve your dinner using the survey link provided to you in your ticket confirmation email. If you have purchased a ticket but have not received a link to submit your dinner selections via the online form, please email Danya Segrest at danya40@uab.edu for assistance.

I don’t want to purchase a ticket for a dinner, but I would still like to make a donation. How can I give to the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center?

If you plan on participating in virtual ArtBLINK, we recommend pre-registering for the art auction. By registering for the auction, you can easily make a donation to the O’Neal Cancer Center. You can register by phone, or you can register online by visiting qtego.net/qlink/occc.

To register by phone, text ARTBLINK to 72727. After sending this text, you will receive a response with a link.

Once you have registered for the auction, you can text GIVE to 79230 with the amount that you would like to donate. For example, to donate $25, text GIVE 25 to 79230. Again, you can only make a donation via text message after you have registered for the art auction. You can also make a donation by clicking the “DONATE” button on the Qtego auction website.

If you do not want to register for the ArtBLINK auction but do still want to give to the O’Neal Cancer Center, you can also make a donation online here.

How do I bid on art?

To bid on art, you must first register for the auction. You can register by phone, or you can register online by visiting qtego.net/qlink/occc.

To register by phone, text ARTBLINK to 72727.

After placing a bid on an item, you can check the status of your bid by texting the three-digit number listed with the item on the auction site to 79230. This number will be preceded by a number sign (#) on the item listing, although it is not necessary to include the number sign (#) when checking the status of the item by text message. For example, you would text 003 to 79230 to find out whether you are still the highest bidder on a piece whose item number is listed on the auction site as #003.

I pre-registered, and it's the day of the event. How do I sign into the auction site again?

To sign in, visit qtego.net/qlink/occc and click “SIGN IN.”

After clicking “SIGN IN,” you will be required to enter the same four-digit PIN you received via text message when you originally registered for the auction. If you do not remember your PIN, click “Resend Text Message” and then enter the phone number of the cell phone you originally used to register. You will then receive a text message that includes your PIN. Upon receiving your PIN via text message, enter the PIN and proceed to sign into the Qtego auction site.

When does the auction close?

The auction will remain open all weekend following ArtBLINK on Friday, Feb. 5. The auction will then close at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 7.

If I win a piece of artwork on the night of ArtBLINK, how do I collect it?

A member of the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center staff will reach out to you the week after the event concludes, beginning Monday, Feb. 8, with checkout instructions, as well as pickup and/or delivery options.

How do I buy a piece of art from the artists’ gallery?

Artist gallery pieces will be listed under the “INSTABUY” items on the Qtego auction website. To add an item to your cart for purchase, enter the item quantity as “1” and click “BUY.” Please make note of the price listed in the item description – not the price listed in yellow.

Payments for gallery pieces and Instabuy items must be made directly to the artist. A member of the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center staff will be in touch with you on the Monday following the event to coordinate payment and pickup/delivery between the buyer and the artist.

The price of each available piece will be listed in the item description. Although your cart will show $0 owed, even after adding items to it through the auction site, the amount to be paid to the artist for each piece will be the amount listed in the item description.

I have made a donation or won a piece of art through the Qtego auction site. How do I pay and checkout?

Following the event, a member of the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center staff will be in touch with you to complete checkout for any donations made or auction pieces won through the Qtego auction site as part of the event. Payments may be made via credit card or check.

If you purchased a gallery/Instabuy item, you will need to pay the artist directly for the piece. A member of the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center staff will help coordinate this exchange between the buyer and the artist after the event.
