Each year, the Advisory Board of the UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center proudly recognizes individuals who serve as exceptional ambassadors and advocates in the fight against cancer. We are honored to celebrate Tricia Kirk and Neillie Butler, a remarkable mother-daughter duo whose courage, resilience and unwavering spirit in the face of cancer continue to inspire us all.

Neillie was diagnosed with Desmoid Sarcoma at the age of 18 during her freshman year of college. With the steadfast support of her family and friends, and under the care of Dr. Heslin at UAB, she faced her diagnosis with determination. Today, Neillie is a successful entrepreneur, married to Tom Butler; together, they are raising three beautiful children.

A little over two years ago, Tricia received her own cancer diagnosis, and she is currently undergoing treatment at UAB O’Neal Cancer Center with incredible strength, supported by her family and community. A beloved figure in Birmingham, Tricia served for many years as Executive Director of the Exceptional Foundation, where her compassion and leadership made a lasting impact. The featured artwork for this year’s ArtBLINK Gala was created by John Miller, one of Tricia’s dear friends and a participant at the Foundation.

The ArtBLINK Director’s Circle is a membership program that offers people an opportunity to invest in and engage with the O’Neal Cancer Center.
