The ArtBLINK Director’s Circle is a membership program that offers people an opportunity to invest in and engage with the O’Neal Cancer Center. Members’ investments support high-priority initiatives at the O’Neal Cancer Center, including research projects and patient navigator programs.

This year, we are proud to honor Allene and Foots Parnell for their longstanding, significant commitment to the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center and Birmingham at large. After losing their 22-year-old daughter, Carleton, to cancer in 2002, the Parnells have devoted their energy to improving cancer research and care in our community. Foots spearheaded a $15 million campaign to establish the Hazelrig Salter Radiation Oncology Center at UAB, a facility that has served thousands of patients and their families from across the southeast. Foots also served as President of the Advisory Board of the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center from 2011-2012 and continues to play an active role. Allene and Foots’ volunteer and philanthropic efforts at the O’Neal Cancer Center and throughout the Birmingham community have truly made an impact on the lives of countless individuals, and it is a privilege to recognize them for all they have invested to make Birmingham and the state of Alabama a healthier, more vibrant place to live.
